# IP Whitelisting

You can restrict access to your proxy services by defining a set of allowed IP addresses. This ensures that even if your credentials are leaked, proxy requests are only accepted from your trusted sources.

* **Behavior:**
  * If the whitelist is empty, the proxy accepts requests from any IP address (default).
  * If the whitelist contains any IPs, all requests originating from unlisted IP addresses are immediately blocked.
* **Error Handling:** Unauthorized requests will fail and return a `491 Unassigned` error status.
* **Configuration:** To add or remove allowed IP addresses, see the [Dashboard Setup Guide](/netnut-documentation/dashboard/account-management.md#whitelist-ips).
